Celebration’s 10th birthday

Disney’s planned community, Celebration, turned 10 years old this past weekend.
I remember when Celebration was being built. I end up travelling to Florida every three or four years, it seems, and having a keen interest in architecture and community planning this Disney town caught my attention. I was very skeptical of this intimate project being taken on by such a large company.
And, sadly, though I’ve driven by the community a few times, I’ve never driven into it — and therefore my skepticism remains. I suppose I’m afraid that it will be put on, that it will look and act like a movie set — like Disney World across the interstate. The next time (assuming there is a next time) I visit Florida I’ve already made it a point to visit some new places (Disney World is great, but Orlando has a lot to offer.) like Pioneers headquarters and Wycliffe’s language museum.
I’ll have to add Celebration to that list.
