Gluttons for punishment

After a year, give or take, of looking for a dog for we finally found an Old English Sheepdog as my wife hoped for.
She arrived — via special delivery from my father-in-law — early this week. We had mostly been looking at rescues for young females without success. This girl comes as a three-month old from a litter on a farm in western Oklahoma. Having a puppy means training we thought we might avoid with a little older dog from a rescue or shelter, so the past week was expectedly chaotic. Really, though, she’s been a doll for her first eight days or so away from her parents and brothers. Hopefully that trend will continue, and as we catch up on some sleep this week we’ll find our rhythm again.
She has been christened Maisie, after the literary character Maisie Dobbs.
