Paul Nielsen founded The Aesthetic Elevator late in 2005. He owns a piece of paper, located somewhere in his house (not on the wall), stating that he earned a B.F.A. from the University of Nebraska around about 2001. While there, he studied studied architecture, graphic design and ceramics, graduating with a degree in studio art. Paul presently serves as communications manager for a small non-profit doing their print design and marketing. He spends as much time sculpting in his studio as possible — which is not nearly enough.     You know how to make God laugh? Tell him your plans.

    But seriously, here is my career plan for being an artist: Find another job to pay the bills and paint the best paintings I can in my spare time. So far it’s working out great!

    That seems to be a thread in the blog I mentioned above, although I’ve yet to dig enough into any of the the links myself. I started out today wanting to formulate an entry on how a person goes about jumping into a career as an artist; I didn’t get that far, but the resources above seem like a good starting point.
