The eighth day of Christmas

3kings.jpg

This painting is by a virtual acquaintance of mine, Jim Janknegt. Jim lives and paints in Texas. I’ve used imagery of the three kings a few times now, and suppose I should add that, from what I understand, the magi arrived roughly two years after the birth of Christ. Further, there is no Biblical reference to the actual number of wise men who visited the Christ child before the family’s flight to Egypt. Some believe, with good reason it seems, that the gifts of the kings facilitated the trip and time and Egypt. You can read about the wise men in the Gospel of Matthew, chapter two.

About pcNielsen
Paul Nielsen founded The Aesthetic Elevator late in 2005. He owns a piece of paper, located somewhere in his house (not on the wall), stating that he earned a B.F.A. from the University of Nebraska around about 2001. While there, he studied studied architecture, graphic design and ceramics, graduating with a degree in studio art. Paul presently serves as communications manager for a small non-profit doing their print design and marketing. He spends as much time sculpting in his studio as possible — which is not nearly enough.
